16”x12” hand-pulled block print on Thai Kozo paper (frame not included)
St. Francis biographer, Thomas of Celano (a contemporary friar of Francis’), wrote of his care for all creatures - even the worms. If he noticed one on in harm’s way, he would move it to safer ground. To me, this story captures the heart of St. Francis. In this print, he is flanked with the imagery commonly assigned to him - Brother Sun, Sister Moon, the birds who received his sermons, and the thornless roses that protected him - but the man himself is as I imagine him, stooped down to care for the very least of these.
Because each print is hand pulled, minor variations are natural. Each print is a unique work of art.
